Professor Christian von Buchwald is a highly accomplished medical professional with extensive experience. He graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 1983 and earned his Doctor of Medical Science in Sinonasal Carcinomas in 1996. Since then, he has made significant contributions to the field, including serving as a consultant at Rigshospital's ORL-Head and Neck Surgery Department in 1998 and becoming a Professor in Otolaryngology at the University of Copenhagen in 2008. Prof. von Buchwald is actively involved in medical education and has organized numerous international courses on endoscopic sinus surgery and head and neck surgery. His research areas encompass head and neck cancer, HPV, stem cells, minimally invasive surgery, and upper airway inflammation. He is also a trusted advisor to the Danish Medicines Council, chairing a board evaluating the benefits of biologics for treating CRSwNP. In addition to his surgical innovations, such as introducing image-guided endoscopic surgery and establishing a robotic H&N center, Prof. von Buchwald is a dedicated mentor to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. He has an impressive publication record, serving as a peer reviewer for esteemed journals and contributing to national and international textbooks. Prof. von Buchwald's leadership extends to his roles as the past President of The Danish Academy of Head & Neck Surgery and as a board member of various medical societies. His expertise and contributions have earned him honorary memberships in international societies, including the Italian Rhinologic Society and the German Society of ORL.
